Robust VoIP E9-1-1 Call Location Capability

Reliable 9-1-1 Coverage Demands a Rapid Indoor/Outdoor Solution.

Slow time-to-fix and poor performance indoors and in urban areas have hampered the performance and reliability of Wireless E9-1-1 call location technologies. Now, the E9-1-1 story is unfolding once again - this time in telephony using Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) technology. Reliable E9-1-1 coverage is the bedrock of telephony. We believe that this time, we have the opportunity to get it right - the opportunity to live up to the expectations that come with the three numbers "9-1-1".

Rosum TV-GPS means reliable, mobile, indoor/outdoor location capability with consistent time-to-fix. 9-1-1 service demands no less. VoIP telephony generally takes place on the desktop - callers can't step outside to make a 9-1-1 call, nor can they be asked to put their adapter on the window sill with line of sight to the sky.

On May 19, 2005, the Federal Communications Commission mandated that VoIP service providers provide E9-1-1 call location capability to their customers. The Senate and House of Representatives both introduced bills that same day. Rosum's robust indoor/outdoor call location capability helps carriers meet these public safety requirements. Further, Rosum's technology moves as the adapter moves, meaning customers don't need to log into a website and manually update their location every time they take their adapter on the road, something which is subject to input error or simple forgetfulness. This real-time automatic location capability not only supports public safety, but also can support value-added applications based on location awareness.

Rosum works within the native 9-1-1 infrastructure to send absolute device position to the PSAP, quickly, and reliably. No additional investment by the PSAP is required. For more information, please contact us at info@rosum.com.
