Rosum TV-GPS Plus

In addition to our wide-area positioning system, Rosum also is developing a limited-area, 3D positioning system. This system utilizes field-deployable pseudo TV transmitters (PTTs) to "light up" a limited area, enabling high-precision, 3D positioning. Rosum is developing this system for use by first responders in emergency situations. With the Rosum 3D positioning system, rescue personnel can be tracked from a field command center, reducing precious time spent giving location updates and eliminating blind searches in man-down situations.

In an emergency situation, Rosum PTTs are deployed around the building or area. The PTTs transmit signals that penetrate structures in the area, enabling tracking of a Rosum-enabled portable device such as a two-way radio. The illustration below shows Rosum TV-GPS Plus deployed on a fireground in support of first responders.

Fireground First Responder Tracking Application

Rosum PTTs can be used in conjunction with existing TV infrastructure. They also can be deployed in areas where ambient TV signal might not be available. In the fireground scenario shown above, the incident commander could determine how many first responders are in the building while he is on route to the area (using TV-GPS). Once there, his team would deploy PTTs around the area (using TV-GPS Plus). Once PTTs are deployed, the incident commander would know the location of team personnel to the level of a room in the building.

PTTs can also be installed to provide on-demand coverage at pre-determined areas, such as key buildings and landmarks in support of industrial security or homeland security applications, or in support of child safety applications. This scenario is depicted below.
